ian blair | The only reason we own a home in Wentworth is because of the scenic trails behind the Hostil and the years of tradition of hiking and cross country skiing. It is one of the last spots in the province that is relatively close to Halifax and yet preserved. I am very much against a wind farm of this magnitude and in general question the grand scheme of wind farms in general. Advancements in Nuclear enregy, and in general conservation is still far more powerful and less evasive that the huge amounts of land and mills required to make any kind of dent in our power consumption.
Sheila Blair-Reid | There are many detremental energy issues in the development of wind power. I do not believe they are being properly considered with this proposal. I believe that the impact on our enviornment from the construction of the windmills in this particular location is devestating the the area and that the positive outcomes are not strong enough to justify this plan.

Butch Atkinson | we thought we had come up with the perfect retirement community, skiing across the street, trails at the hostile for x country skiing, hiking snow shoeing and mtn. biking and the most pictutesque places in n.s..the wind mill dev, could destroy it all!
Paul Morris | What a great site!
George MacDonald | While I completely oppose development of the turbines on the ridge of the Valley near residences, I support the placement of them in remote unpopulated areas away from the Valley. I am familiar with the area, and there are many such areas that are appropriate. Your total opposition undermines your credibility. The silly and unscientific moose argument erodes it further.
Craig MacLellan |
Paul Bowie | I am all for wind power but the closest tower should be at least 2-3km's from the nearest residence. the Wentworth valley is one of the best recreation areas in the Province and the natural beauty should be maintained. At the very least a level 4 environmental study should be done and public meetings held after the study is complete. I realize that the developer would like to keep it simple and only have to deal with one land owner (Nina Paper) but this type of project is not simple and If they have to deal with numerous landowners in order to place these units appropriately then so be it.

Brian Carter | I don't like the hype in the letter trying to create fear with light flicker, moose etc. I sign because Nova scotians need to do as other countries have done and use this technology as much as we can, but make a law that says they must be 2 KM from homes. Build as many as we can just, keep them away from people and homes. This can be done in the proposed area by placing them closer to the Cobiquid Pass road and away from homes in the Wentworth Valley

Meaghan Denholm |
Mark Denholm |
Glen Rankin | I believe there should be a Provincial standard set of guidelines to govern these installations, factoring in environmental, natural, and human impact.
Gus Maclellan |
Peter Bigelow |
Bill Moffatt | The lack of provincial policy is astonishing and dismaying.
Lydia Sorflaten | A comprehensive study to identify non populated areas in Nova Scotia suitable for wind power development is needed.
Allan Sorflaten | this is definitely the right place to begin
Gail Munro | We should keep Wentworth Valley as natural, quiet and peaceful as possible. The wind turbines should not be placed in populated areas.
Harold Bernard | More study is necessary on the long range impact before locating them in sensitive areas.
Michel Comeau |
Jim Harpell | I have signed this petition not because I am against wind power but because I feel that the installation of such 'wind farms' should be in areas where people are not affected . As for the arguements, I feel that the whole issue looses credibility when we start arguing about the moose and other wildlife. If there are legitimate arguements against them, then bring them forth. If not, then don't bring up red herrings. I agree with one of the signees who said that they should be put along the Cobequid Pass. We all know the wind that blows through there, especially in the winter. I have run by the one in Brookfield and didn't even realize it was there as wekk as the one in Cheticamp and the noise was not a serious factor. I disagree that more research is needed. We have enough world wide examples of them working that we don't need another study. Let's not make this a "Not in my Backyard' issue. Also, let's not waste taxpayers' dollars studying something that has been researched to death. To me it's simple: don't put them on good agricultural land- we have little enough with urban sprawl and don't put them within close proximity to residential areas.
Jeff | I cannot imagine the day that I would see people fighting the use of Green energy. Yet you would be the first to complain if they were to put a coal burning energy plant in your area. This is a step in the right direction after so many years of going in the wrong direction. Lets use our brains on this one!!!
Anonymous | Anyone actually concerned with the environment would not have a problem with a wind farm such as this. Each one of you is an introverted pig consumed with a passion only for your money. Wind power is a positive step towards gaining power from a non-coal source this province needs and you stand in the way. Shame!
| 100 | M Anderson | Wind power is a farce! These greedy developer DEPEND on destroying your area and lowering your property value to make a profit. Don't buy into this huge scam. They are NOT green!
