Comments: Cutting the NIH budget is a very short-sighted action. We are undermining our research infrastructure that has allowed us to lead the world in biological sciences. Many very talented researches are leaving the fied and foreign trainees aren't coming. We will pay dearly for this as we weaken our research establishment. Our patients suffer and we lose our competitive advantage.

Comments: Biomedical research funded by NIH has been vital to discovering the myriad ways the body works, how things can go wrong and how to potentially fix these errors and cure disease. In addition, spinoffs from the basic work funded by NIH has fueled the pharmaceutical and medical device fields, leading to even more innovation, commerce and improvements in health. Please don't cut off this vital sector of the economy and our future.
