Name: Jackie Knight on Dec 5, 2012Comments: I have already written to the planning people to try and stop this lovely estate with its many original features being ruined by an ugly addition. I have friends who live there and they are extremely distressed that this threat is still going on - and so am I!Flag

Comments: A heinous money-making scheme to line the pockets of the landlord and managing agent with no consideration for the Art Deco inspired village green feel nor the impact this would have on the residents. Please join us in opposing this application and sign this petitionFlag -

Name: Michael Steven on Dec 10, 2012Comments: Planning permission must not be granted to build on the roof of Northview. The flats are a haven to peace and tranquillity which would be forever lost. The light that falls into the gardens would be cast in shadow and the unique shape and feel of the building gone. Profits should not come before a piece of unique Islington Architecture and its survival as a landmark to Art Deco glory. Northview needs listing and restoring back to its former grace not left to decay and be buried under a proposal that would forever mean its loss to its shape and unique architectural detail.Flag

Name: Adrian Kennedy on Jan 4, 2013Comments: Do not allow the character, culture and charm of this area to be destroyed. The proposed development is antipathetic to the spirit and style of the existing structures. I understand that planning guidance is permissive, however, I would urge you to reject this proposal which would result in a charmless hydrid building. The proposal has insufficient practical value and lacks social or cultural purpose. It is clearly only driven by an artless and destructive profit-motive.Flag

Name: Amanda Carrara on Jan 5, 2013Comments: I write as Chair of Oakfield Court Residents' Association (Haslemere Road, N8). Like Northview we are a 1930s 3 storey redbrick estate under threat from developers over the last few years. Like Oakfield Court, Northview is of architectural merit and the integrity of their built estate and community should be conserved not destroyed by inappropriate and insensitive development. I urge Islington Council to reject this planning application, save Northview once and for all and protect our common architectural and social heritage.Flag

Name: Mick Gilfoyle on Jan 5, 2013Comments: Let democracy prevail, put a stop to money grabbing developers ruining wonderful living spaces. Target all those unused properties owned by rich people who buy property just to make money without anyone ever living in them of charge exorbitant rents. It is time our politicians had the balls and leadership to do what the people who elect them want. Take note good people of Islington what your councillors are doing in your name.Flag
