Portland Public Schools (PPS) has rushed the process for changing school boundaries for the Sabin, Alameda, and Beaumont schools without adequate notification or representation of those families most affected. With a plan to vote on a final recommendation on February 7, 2011, PPS is poised to make a narrowly-made decision using questionable assumptions. We request that the PPS Board - Postpone any January or February 2011 vote on this matter. - Provide representation of Non-PPS families and all affected neighborhood associations to the Boundary Advisory (BAC) committee. - Conduct a comprehensive Grant Cluster Review to ensure an equal, transparent and long-term solution to the enrollment balancing process for all Northeast Portland elementary and middle schools that feed Grant High School.
