We the undersigned, urge Portland Public Schools to select a Core Reading program which follows the advisement of the scientific community by selecting curricula described by either the National Reading Plan guidelines, the Oregon Literacy Framework or independently verified evidenced based research.

The impact of selecting curricula which is not direct, explicit, nor systematic, will fail students, teachers and families for years to come.
