This petition is for people who believe that shark finning should be illegal in every country, as well as international waters! It is a malicious and destructive act that is killing millions of sharks each year and giving money to dangerous people. Shark fin soup is a delicacy in many Asian cultures, but its actually tasteless and adds nothing to a soup. It is simply a status symbol. Some Asian cultures also believe that eating shark fin or ingesting shark fin in pill form is a "cure-all" that protects humans from disease and cancer. IT IS NOT TRUE. Sharks are unfortunately becoming saturated with chemicals and mercury, which accumulates in their flesh. It is not safe to eat! We need to protect sharks. They are more important to our ecosystem than people realize. They are also shy, intelligent creatures who pose no more of a threat to us than a dog. The misconception is that sharks are a vicious, soulless killing machine. But the fact is they do not eat humans. PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION IF YOU WANT TO END THE VIOLENCE AGAINST SHARKS!
