Citizens Against The Power Plant

The petition

We are concerned citizens of Grand Terrace, Highgrove, Riverside and Colton who are against the AES Highgrove Power Plant.

- Impact zone includes Grand Terrace, Highgrove, Riverside City and County, and Colton.

- The plant will emit fine particles of PM2.5 air pollutants which are associated with lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, asthma attacks, bronchitis, wheezing, coughs, adverse health impacts, increased mortality, reduction in lung capacity, and increased hospitalizations (U.S. EPA, 4/1996)

- Power plant will produce more than half a million pounds of pollutants per year.

- Power plant will be built across the street from new High School in Grand Terrace. The property line of the school and plant will be as close as 75 feet!
