Comments: I am a new agent Just started working in real estate in May. This charging for ads is making business really bad. The people that logs on the site looking for apts are not always renting apts. some are just playing around with brokers. example:Making appointments and never showing up to see the apt. I have to pay for all the long distance calls. Transporting people from apt to apt because they are looking for an gold mine apartment in NYC for 0.50 a month. If I knew people was going to rent maybe I will pay for an ad, just 1 ad. But for $10. I will never pay, its just not worth it!! WHEN A PERSON BUYS A PAPER. BOTH PARTIES HAVE TO PAY. THE PERSON BUYING THE NEWSPAPER AND THE PERSON ADVERTISING THEIR AD IN THE PAPER. IF YOU GOING TO CHARGE,CHARGE FOR WHOLE SITE. YOU WILL BE RICHER. I WILL GO OUT SIDE AN GIVE OUT FLYERS BEFORE I PAY FOR ANY ADS ON CRAIGSLIST. THE PEOPLE THIAT LOGING ON TO SITE. MOST OF THEM DON'T EVER MAKE ENOUGH MONEY TO RENT A SHOE BOX. FOR THE PEOPLE ASKING CRAIG TO CHARGE IS THE ONE'S THAT CAN NOT PLAY THE GAME. REAL ESTATE IS A TEAM GAME NOT A 1 BROKAERAGE GAME. IT'S NOT ABOUT BIGGEST BROKER TAKING CRAIG TO DINNER TO STABLE EVERY BROKER IN THE CITY IN THE BACK. CRAIG THIS IS NOT RIGHT.

Comments: It has become difficult for us to make a living. Business is tremendously slow, sales take a while to close, commissions are split like hairs. If we have to pay every one should pay to advertise period.

Comments: I believe that we should no paid to place our ads on crigslist. Since today our landlords ask for so many requirements from the tenants, most tenants do no qualify for the apts. Most of the time, we only spend our time+gasoline showing apts., we can no close the deal and we make no money. My question is if we are no making enought money, how will we be able to pay on ads If broker/agents will be charged, then public should pay too. Thank you.

Comments: it's really sad that a site that was developed for the people has become this.....we are also providing a service to the public.......you really can't move to big cities without the inside scoop.......isn't that what Craigs list is hummmmmmmm rental listings last less than a day on the market here in manhattan!!! I realize that some brokers post false ads and such but eliminate those from the site......Craigs list should want great rental ads !!!! not charge for them!

Comments: I agree. There are many rental agents and lots of competition in NYC. With useing all the available tools, lots of agent can not even make two deals a monthto cover their expenses. on top of that this business is slow on Dec. Jan. and Feb.
