Comments: A friend of mine from the former German Democratic Republic has seen this movie in West-Berlin before the wall in Berlin was built. At the age of 70 he is still very much impressed by this event. I wish to send him a copy of this film as a present on the occacion of his 70th birthday.

Comments: This is the first movie my dad and I saw together in a sit down theater, only the two of us a very special occasion for a 12 year old. At that age the movie delighted me. Because of the experience with my dad and the greatness of the movie itself I would very much like to own it and share it with my children and grandchildren. How can you do a credible remake without the original to compare it with? With the re-release of the 1959 version I would very much endorse a remake with the incredible talent available today. For those who are seeing political incorrectness they are missing the very positive message of love and commitment the movie invokes. Not to forget the great music, also how about releasing the sound track on cd, I've heard some of the re-do's by other artists, nothing remotely compares to the original.

Comments: I would truly appreciate seeing this movie after 35+ years. I remember watching this as a young child and I was amazed at the characters portrayed on screen. This is African American cinematic history and it should be viewed by this generation as well as generations to come. I believe whatever problems that are responsible for not allowing the movie to be released can be resolved. I thank you in advance for "making this happen".

Comments: I have been looking for this movie since VHS became the dominant media. I was on leave after Navy boot camp when I saw this movie at the theater. One of the very best movies I have ever seen. Please release it to the general public before it is too late for me to obtain a copy.

Comments: It seems a shame to perpetuate racist attitudes by NOT releasing this film African-American success in music, television, sports, movies, and government since the film was made certainly cannot be damaged by any supposed "stereotypes" the film fictionally depicts. Think of it this way: if every character in the story were white, no one would have any objection. "Porgy and Bess" is a mighty piece of work, a profound and moving tragedy. It is wrong to hide good art out of fear.

Comments: This movie has sentimental value for me. My older cousin took us kids to see the great black stars united this only time in a movie. My cousin has since died, but I still recall his memory and the wonder of this film. I have 550 DVDs and blu-rays in my collection, but none has the place in my heart that this movie holds. I will pay whatever to own it in a restored, high-quality version. RELEASE IT.

Comments: If I've heard correctly, the Library of Congress has a copy of "Porgy and Bess"-1959. Why can't President Obama declare it a National Treasure and order it's preservation for all ours' future by the latest cutting edge digital, frame by frame, optical and audio restoration. Put Martin Scorsese in charge of it, his overseeing of the "El Cid" restoration was excellent and of a quality of effort that "Porgy and Bess" so very much deserves.

Comments: Porgy and Bess (1959) is historically significant and it is pure overuse of a legal loophole to censure it. The musical rights should be sold to it's original distributor (Columbia Pictures/Sony) for the use of preserving and presenting it to audiences who will appreciate it.
