There are now 5.8 billion human beings on the planet and according to the UN, the population of earth is expected to grow around 7.9 billion by 2050.
- In August of 1999 India became the second country to have its population reach the one billion mark.
That's alot of people for a country that is currently trying to become developed! As the population in developing countries such as India grows, more and more problems are occuring. Lack of shelter, jobs and food, and an increase in crime rates are just a few of the serious problems. Issues with poverty and disease are killing these countries, yet more and more children are being born every day. This obviously is not fair for a country that is working to become economically and socially powerful.
