Pope Benedict
shocked the world on Monday, February 11, 2013 by saying he no longer had the mental and
physical strength to cope with his ministry, in an announcement that
left his aides "incredulous" and will make him the first pontiff to step
down since the Middle Ages.
The purpose of this petition is to nominate Leopoldo Ponce Jr. for the position of Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church.
Mr. Ponce (or "Pope Leo XIV") is eminently qualified to reign over Catholic Christendom and is expected to reinvigorate the Selezione di calcio della Città del Vaticano (Vatican National Soccer Team) in preparation for World Cup 2018.
