Pacific Island Cultural Center
As the number of American Pacific Islanders population continue to grow, so does everything else along with it. Many Pacific Islanders live in minority neighborhoods that are plagued with suicide, gang violence, drug addiction, domestic violence, poverty, and more. The difference here is that we lack any facility that can provide crucial services to our disenfranchised community. Many of these issues can be dealt within the community if a place was designated that can foster positive dialog, provide counseling in a variety of issues; not limited to suicide prevention, addiction, depression, obesity, marriage counseling, to mention a few. A facility for Pacific Islanders means we will have an avenue for our leaders and those of the community to meet together and work towards finding solutions to some of the dire problems that occur within our small yet powerful community. It means that we can have a place to teach our cultural arts and to preserve our history, teach language classes and bridge the gap between the language barriers. There are many reasons why, please support!
