Name: Lisa Parrish on Oct 3, 2012Position Title: First Grade Teacher (was Teacher-Librarian)School/Institution: Glendale USDComments: I was told last year that the district was "going in a different direction" with the high school libraries. Due to the budget, all but one high school teacher-librarians were told they'd be put back in the classroom. I found out 1 1/2 days before school started that I'd be teaching 1st grade after 13 years at the high school level. There is a trend afoot nation-wide to equate libraries and librarians as unnecessary in the age of the Internet. Perhaps the agenda is to "re-write history" as the First Lady stated while campaigning in 2007 and librarians stand in the way of this. While I do not agree with the ALA on many issues, I do commend them for this effort.Flag
