Below are two articles which tell how Justice James Spence’s of the Ontario Superior Court ruled that Toronto doesn't have the right to ban shark fin soup as well as how sharks are misunderstood as well as beneficial to our ecosystem. I don't know the constitutionality of such a ruling, or of Toronto's jurisdiction. I do know that taking a stand against killing a sentient, intelligent, and endangered species by cutting off its fins and tossing it back in the ocean to slowly, and in excruciating pain bleed to death is despicable, unconscionable, unnecessarily cruel and if we can get it banned with this petition and force this issue to be presented to the Supreme Court, then please sign this petition as the first step toward justice. A nation is known for how it treats its weakest members. I think we must stand up for sharks as they are being senselessly slaughtered and brought to the brink of extinction. Once that happens, what creature will be next in order to sate the appetites of those with no regard for the environment, nature, her resources and ours. In nature, every species relies on other species. If one disappears, the entire ecosystem alters and other species become endangered. If you don’t care about other species, remember we are also a species in nature, and as the species start to die off or are killed off, we humans cannot expect to remain unaffected forever.
