Notice: I have had a big issue with this for as long as I can remember, so please uderstand that I am not trying to offend anyone. I live in Romania, Europe...European Union even. I have purchased a Playstation 3 with Move and I wanted to make an online account, so I can play with my friends online...but I had to register my sisters address in US, because, to my surprise, I can not register online from Romania?! I work in a multinational company and I realize that most content is created with specific target, so I can understand that some content was designed for and is being marketed in specific countries, but I could not register my credit card because I could not choose my own billing address?! This is not only offending, but it only prooves that piracy will still exist for as long as something like this happens. How can such a big company as Sony, not market itself propperly? Piracy is a crime and I am not encouraging it in any way, but I can't offer my valid information. Especially in the gaming world, anyone from anywere in the world should be able to make a purchase. I am not referring to freebies, but actually paying honest money. In order to be able to make a purchase, I would have to go to a site that sells network cards and purchase one, wait for it to be delivered from who knows where in the world, then register it to be able make my purchase, which should have taken 2 minutes tops?! Why?! The reason why Blizzard made so much money with World of Warcraft and got so many paying users for so many years, is exactly because it is accessible to everyone. I am sure that the numbers, of consoles and games sold in Romania untill now, do not lie. Even with the crisis, all Romanian retailers report that people are still buying games and Playstation 3 or PSP consoles...so why is the online account an issue, why is online paying from all over the world an issue? I am really disapointed with this especially because I am a Sony fanatic. I own a Sony TV, a Sony-Ericsson phone and planned to purchase a Sony Vaio laptop...but I may reconsider this, after seing that my money is not good for Sony.... For such a mammoth company as Sony to be so unconsiderate...I feel let down. Perhaps the Marketing Department of Sony need to revize their attitude.
