Manchester City Council are proposing to allow the construction of a 416 space temporary car park for use for a 2 year period by NHS staff, including a 6 metre high lighting columns and erection of a 2.4 metre high fence with controlled access & cabin. We oppose this development on social and environmental grounds: local residents value their green space and object to the proposed increase in traffic activity on Platt Lane, the the inherent incresed social nuisance brought by higher volumes of traffic, and the related increased road safety concerns for local children in an area where most houses do not have gardens / playing out spaces. The deadline for responses is Thursday 27 May 2004. |
