Plans for new Children and Young People Bill

"This Government's vision for children and young people is clear: we want Scotland to the best place in the world for them to grow up"

Aileen Campbell MSP, Minister for Children and Young People

The Scottish Government has announced that it will be consulting on a new Bill which will incorporate Children’s Rights into the Children and Young People’s Bill.

Play Scotland is calling on the Scottish Government to include a Statutory Duty for Play in this new Bill. This could place a Duty on local authorities to provide sufficient and satisfying play opportunities for
children of all ages and abilities.

This would help the Scottish Government delivery on their commitment to improve
children’s outcomes and quality of life through play.

If you agree with our petition for a Statutory Duty for Play to be included please sign below.

Thank you.
