We the undersigned, would like Lewisham Council to refuse planning consent (DC/12/79567/FT) for the redevelopment of the site at 6 Mantle Road, on the grounds that the proposal is too large, and too ugly. The change of use from business to residential may be detrimental to Brockley’s local economy, and the proposals ignore improvements to the public realm. Instead, we would encourage Lewisham Council to strongly encourage the current owner of the site to develop a planning proposal in consultation with the local community, that might help to unlock the potential of Mantle Road. In signing this petition, I support an alternative development approach fo the site that includes a wider mix of uses, an improved quality of design and public realm, and provides potential pedestrian access to the west platform of Brockley Station – such as the sketch proposal put forward by the Brockley Society (see image below).
