Although the London Plane tree is aesthetically beautiful it unfortunately for some carry's some serious health concerns. Due to the pollen balls that are released and the tiny hairs on the back of the leaves that float around during spring a large number of people suffer from varying degrees of asthma and hay fever type symptoms.
Within the grounds of Scone Public School there are 14 fully grown London Plane trees surrounding the main activity areas of the school, due to this amount and intensity of the pollen teachers, students and members of the public have had adverse reactions ranging from a cough to hospitalization.
Personally my son has had 5 weeks off school due to a new allergy of these trees.
I am applying to the department of education to replace these trees with something more appropriate, I have done most of the hard work and running around but am looking for the support of anyone who has encountered this issue and would like to show their support.
