Name: Maurine Paynter on Sep 10, 2002State: TXCountry: USComments: I don't believe you have ANY right to blame P!nk for the unfortunate happenings that have occurred. Kids make their own choices to drink and take part in activities that they shouldn't. It seems as if any time something goes wrong someone in the spotlight is blamed. Our society needs to realize that parents need to pay more attention to where their kids are going and what they are doing. If P!nk has done anything to influence kids, it has not been to go out a drink. She has saved MANY lives through her work including mine and just because she went out and had a good time one night does't mean that she is a bad person. She is 23 years old. Last time I checked, that would be the age of a grown adult that is legally of age to drink. She did nothing wrong so I believe that the comments you made need to be thought about more closely and you need to stop placing the blame on the easiest target just so your reasearch is easier for you to get and your articles take less thought and time for you to write. Yes, you got the attention of many people by throwing P!nk's name around but that was just to get attention for yourself because you are the one that wants to be in the spotlight and your work is so shitty that you have to take a simple situation and blow it up because that's the only way you can get the attention you want. Unlike you, P!nk worked her ASS off to get to where she is today and she continues to work her ASS OFF to do what she does. Therefore, she had the right to celebrate a accomplishment in her life that she has worked hard to get. P!nk is a great influence on kids. She has taken her life and totally turned it around for the better and she made something of herself. The girls that were raped should not be blamed for being raped, but should be blamed for their choice to drink. You could just as easily blame the Budweiser Frogs or the Corona or any beer comercials for influencing these kids to drink. You are an EXTREMELY SHALLOW person for hitting the easy target and using P!nk as an excuse for this incident.Flag

Name: Juta Sritam on Sep 10, 2002State:Country: THComments: That was such an ignorant statement ever. Why do people always have to find someone to blame on instead of focussing on the real issue We all heard that our parents are just people and people made mistakes. Pink is just a person and she said it herself that she was not perfect. Now when something uncalled for happened to their kids they just going to throw it on the singer right So now she is God, isn't she Do they asked the kids to do what she said or what Is that acceptable why can't they look at the great things she did for teenagers or parents like her inspiring lyrics such as Respect or Family Portrait It was too harsh and unfair for Pink. Blaming is not going to solve the problem. Blaming the wrong person is not going to make it better. just focus on the real deal, Ok Leave Pink alone.Flag

Name: Ricky Middlesworth on Sep 10, 2002State: AZCountry: USComments: Your article is ridiculous. Yes, I am a fan of Pink's, but this is not the only reason I am defending her. She has a right to party. The whole thing about blaming teenage drinking on her is outrageous. The raping part doesn't even make any sense. Pink has no part whatsoever in rapes in America. She is her own 23-year-old woman, if she wants to be drunk, she can be. It is not her job to watch out for little girls in America. She is not a parent. She is a musical artist. Let her be who she wants to be. If someone claims that they are raped because of Pink being drunk on the VMA's...then you have every right to say these things. But until then, lighten up!Flag

Name: Jaime Diaz on Sep 10, 2002State: TNCountry: USComments: I think its a matter of accountability. Pink is held accountable for her actions as a performer stating that she was drunk on a live telecast. The supposed major concesus is that she was wrong for that. Shouldn't the 4 young girls be accountable for their actions Under age drinking is illegal. They knew better. If Pink was responsible in her own drinking, I see no reason in using her as a scapegoat for the ignorance of 4 young girls.Flag

Name: Ilene Schwartz on Sep 10, 2002State:Country:Comments: The society always has to find a scapegoat to blame for their problems. When their kids drink, smoke, have sex, it is not Pinks', Britney Spears', or anyone else in the medias fault, it is their own. The parents should be responsible for their childs actions, not the media.Flag

Name: Debbie Krovitz on Sep 10, 2002State: CACountry: USComments: Pink is honest and talented, she is not to blame for teen drinking. Nor is music to blame for suicide, due to playing a backwards record. This is absurd! I have read emails from girls who have stated that Pink has saved thier lives, due to the powerful lyrics in her songs. Pink is an artist, Pink is young--yet over 21 and Pink was celebrating her victory. My bet is Pink's next move will be to produce some PSA's against teen drinking. Go Pink, We love you!Flag

Your comments to the effect that alcohol causes rape are ill judged, ill informed, un-researched, unlinked, idiotic and offensive. I wasn't aware that rockstars getting drunk was a new thing And who are you to blame one individual for the downfall of society Thoughtless ill-judged journalism is far more of a threat to society than P!nk getting drunk at an awards ceremony. Think before you write.Flag

So why don't you just think calmly what you are about to say and stop throwing shit to a girl that does what she wants without hurting nobodyFlag

So is P!NK, the fact that she actually said she was drunk has only outraged people because she is really one of the first people to be honest. So many people at awards shows are obviously drunk or high but pretend that they are angels. Get of P!NK's case she is an adult who was celebrating her award nominations.Flag
