An Taoiseach,

We currently have no direct services in the North Dublin area to help people who suffer from depression and/or suicidal attempts or thoughts.

Pieta House has proved in itself to help everyone that makes contact to them. Residents of the North Dublin area have no access to a free counselling service other than BASE in Swords. BASE is inundated with people looking for help and all they can do is be put on a waiting list.

This is unacceptable! BASE are doing all they can but the list keeps getting longer and longer. It takes a lot of courage and bravery to admit you are struggling. Looking for help is a big step for people and the last straw for a lot. We need to address this Taoiseach.

I myself, attended Pieta House and I feel I owe my life to getting other people the help they deserve. It is a huge ask for people who don’t drive to even walk outside when they are depressed or suffer with any anxiety without having to trek over to the other side of the city.

So this I ask you Taoiseach, give mental health issues the priority they deserve. Give the residents of North Dublin some help.

Please see attached names of people who have the same thoughts of myself,

Thank you for your time Taoiseach,

Charlene Russell
