Name: Samantha Wade on Jan 23, 2013Comments: I definitely support this petition, Ravensbourne is a uni known for its amazing facilities. It is unfair for some courses to have access to all the equipment they need and photography students miss out. Particularly if the number of students being accepted on the course is increasing. They are paying such high fees now. They should get their moneys worth.Flag

Name: Rebekah Pascall on Jan 23, 2013Comments: As wonderful and as respected a place it sounds Ravensbourne is to be a student, it seems a fundamental omission to not have the basic provision of a permanent Photography Studio for Digital Photography Degree students. Presumably the long term plan is for this to be provided, but it seems that every effort should be made to prioritise this as an urgent matter, especially as as the intake of students is increasing with each year. Thank-you.Flag

Name: Shirley Ann Goldsack Young on Jan 23, 2013Comments: I was lucky enough to be in the UK during the time that my niece Caroline Goldsack was narrowing her choices for further education (Uni) Each place she visited was held up to the light of her first choice Ravensbourne. Many came short for one reason or another, what she had seen at the London Campus was the ideal. The good fortune of any student to be able to attend the course at the Place they wish to study is wonderful. I had planned to visit the campus when visiting London this Year and Now find myself dismayed that you have students spending learning time transporting equipment from space to space repeatedly because someone was greedy enough to accept the numbers wanting to get in - but you don't have the correct learning environment for them? How irresponsible is it to allow damage to the unarguably expensive equipment. Surely normal attrition is enough for any institution? Does one hand take in students and another assign the teachers without regard for working space? Does part of your faculty work from outside the country that you don't have the areas suitable for the subjects you are handing out degrees in? I imagine the teachers are stretched in their attempts to cover all the facets of the courses as they have to decide where which group will be at any given time. What a nightmare! Why has this situation been allowed to develop? Is it as I suggested taking more students to increase the numbers? Were the walls of the spaces expected to stretch upon more demand? I request a response from a representative of the college to answer my questions and correct my inaccurate conclusions - If that is the case.Flag

Name: Hannah GJ on Jan 23, 2013Comments: When Ravensbourne was in the process of moving to North Greenwich, we had a questionnaire sent out to ask what we were looking for for our courses. At the time I was still on Digital Film Production but already had my place confirmed on Digital Photography. At this stage we all said that we needed a photography studio, a space that would be entirely ours just like the film students have THEIR studios... When we got to North Greenwich we were not given a studio space, just a normal classroom which to be honest is not what we paid for. Fashion get their sewing rooms, product design have their design rooms and workshops, so why don't we have a photography studio? Surely a photography studio goes hand in hand with a photography degree? We need our own space, our own creative environment where we can reach our full potential. Not only will it help us to develop great portfolios, it will encourage others to join the course.Flag

I understand that there are issues with rooms and balancing out all the courses but when peoples lives are being ruined, even put in danger as a result of something as simple as a single room then you have to ask why people are in danger because of something so simple and trivial. Please don't let peoples lives, their futures suffer for something as simple as a single room.Flag

Should invest and support there students by whatever means necessary. And a correctly and permanently equipped studio, will play a big part in the grades the students will active. Frankly I'm amazed it is not provided all ready.Flag
