Name: Aylin Unlu on Jan 23, 2013Comments: Not having a dedicated studio space means we have compromise our shooting time just because we need to construct kit and usable studio spaces. This means we're not able to work to our full potential as photographers, as well as some of us not being able to shoot at all during a session because of time constraints.Flag

Name: Josh Showell on Jan 23, 2013Comments: Having a permanent studio would give us much more flexibility with planning shoots as we would not have to compete with other classes for room space to turn into a studio. It would also make shooting much more efficient as we would not have to move the equipment from room to room and from room to storage.Flag

Name: Mathew Tata on Jan 23, 2013Comments: My girlfriend Indiana has been a student on this course from the point of its inception. The lack of studio space has been a constant source of frustration for her and I can understand why. As a scientist, I liken it to working in research without the use of a laboratory. It's where their work is done, so let them work.Flag

Name: Alexandra Selby on Jan 23, 2013Comments: I am a Level 2 student on the Digital Photography course and having room 213 as a studio this year has really made a difference and I have been able to carry out a lot more shoots than I ever had expected. We really need a permanent space because the results we can reach by having room 213 is astonishing and having kit permanently in the space keeps it safe and ultimately easily accessible and useable.Flag

Name: Lydia Warrender on Jan 23, 2013Comments: It seems simple to me - photographers need a studio, and the work of the students will suffer if they don't have one. Science students couldn't go without a lab, art students couldn't go without a workplace, so why should photography students go without a studio?Flag

Name: Daniel Cope on Jan 23, 2013Comments: Firstly congratulations for making the degree course last and grow by almost 300% over the 3 years, it's got to be a serious challenge taking it through it's infancy. The aspect of the studio is of course a strong interest to current under grads as it is a way of justifying the growing costs of the courses, it is however only a small aspect of the photographic medium. Post Grads will be hopefully looking and obtaining positions as assistants and digital operators with in certain fields of the industry and I believe that these so called 'cons' you mention above could play heavily in the success and preparation in these roles. I do however believe access to a dedicated studio space would improve the course and I wish you all the best for the future. DC www.danielcope.co.ukFlag
