Name: Hannah Coates on Jan 21, 2013Comments: We are in dire need of a specialised studio space. The limitations Ravensbourne currently places on its photography students are impacting grades and project choices, alongside the obvious lack of space for lessons and tutorials. With nearing 100 students as a course, it is no longer acceptable that we are forced from inappropriate room to room. If this course wants to continue, and even attempt to compare to fare more facilitated universities, a specialised studio space, with prop storage, and lockable facilities, must be allocated.Flag

If they take on the responsibility of preparing students for a profession as competitive and demanding as photography for gods sake give them decent resources.Flag

Name: Meara Kallista Morse on Jan 23, 2013Comments: Digital Photography Level 2 student -- we are eating up more than two hours of lesson time each day to get kit from CLR, carry it to correct room, assemble and disassemble properly - this means shoots are rushed, work can't be explored properly, and still damage is caused because of the frequent use. Kitting out one (or even two!!) of the rooms on floor 2 would be fantastic and just what this course needs to increase the quality of work even further - this innovative and forward thinking university needs to give us the proper equipment so that we can live up to the reputation they want to build. With the new intake this past year of around 60 students and another 60 in September it really will be impossible to continue in the state we are now.Flag

Name: Brett Shepherd on Jan 23, 2013Comments: Every discipline at any institution needs the basics in order to produce good work and for photography course a studio is a basic. As a Ravensbourne alumni I find this a pretty poor showing from a college with such a good, strong and long reputation.Flag

Name: Dave Bird on Jan 23, 2013Comments: Not having this sort of facility is pretty poor for a university that prides itself on offering real-world, practical experience, and not having the continuity of a dedicated space for a course, combined with the huge time wastes and confusion that the members of this course suffer, must be seriously detrimental to the quality of their education, and damage their personal, creative and professional development.Flag

Comments: As almost all signees have pointed out, a photography studio is the most basic requirement of a photography, beyond the camera itself! With a designated photography studio DGP students could truly apply themselves to their work, engage in great collaboration with other courses and leave Ravensbourne with a really kickass body of work.Flag
