Thousands of buyers from all over Europe have bought property in Southern Italy. The majority of them bought in good faith and for many spent their life savings. Now over 41 complexes have been seized in 'Operation Metropolis', a sting operation by the anti-mafia authorities. The foreign buyers were badly treated by the developers and the mafia factions treating them like cash cows. Now that the authorities have taken over and seized many of these developers the foreign buyers are in no better shape. The authorities are siding with the developers/mafia and looking after their best interests. In many cases the authorities are insisting that the foreigners pay for services and amenities that have already been paid for previously to the developers and also for things that are not the buyer’s responsibilities. The authorities are acting in a very shady manner that is unfair and unrealistic. They are not taking any consideration for the foreign investor’s rights or what they may have previously paid over. These foreign investors are fighting a hostile region where local factions, developers and judicial authorities are siding with each other for their gain. We need help to highlight our plight and put pressure on the Italian Government to set some law and order in a lawless region - Calabria. Help us as we are the victims but for years now we have been treated very badly.
