The area Community Action Agency (CPAC/HOPE) was incorporated in 1970. After almost 43 years in operation, the agency is in jeapordy of losing its designation as a Community Action Agency (CAA). If the Community Action Agency loses its designation, thousands of citizens in the six-county service area, covering over 4,000 miles, will lose all Federal and State funding needed to help citizens survive and to move to self-sufficiency. It is the last opportunity to SAVE the tool needed to reconstruct this agency, which has the flexibility to listen to and to help meet the needs of the citizens of the Central Peidmont District which consist of the counties of Amelia, Buckingham, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway and Prince Edward. WE, THE UNDERSIGNED CITIZENS, PETITION THE GOVERNOR OF VIRGINIA AND THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES, (OFFICE OF COMMUNITY SERVICES) TO PRESERVE OUR CAA DESIGNATION THAT WE HAVE HELD FOR ALMOST 43 YEARS.
