As students of Caldwell High School, we believe It is unfair to deny us the right to color our hair to our wildest desires. It should be our right to have unnaturally colored hair for some of the following reasons: It is not as big of a distraction as made out to be. The posters throughout the class rooms are far more distracting than the color of a students hair It has only been a distraction when the administration has singled out particular students, and made it an issue. Diversity is what makes people beautiful; if we all were the same, life wouldn't be fun. Hair color can be very important to someone. Its a safe form of self expression and can be a boost of self-esteem for a student. Some children dye their hair vibrant colors in the summer and are forced to change it back in the fall. Hair is a physical part of the body and cant be easily changed (unlike the clothes you wear) Hair color is not harmful to any person. It is not violent or obscene. Individuals who sign this petition agree that they do not find unique hair colors distracting and feel as though the students of Caldwell High School should be granted the right to be original.
