Petition to Reduce School Taxes for Residents in the Salamanca City Central School District
We feel that residents of the Salamanca City Central School District (SCCSD) are paying too much in school taxes and are seeking relief. There are a number of possible reasons this has occurred, including:
- the number of tax-exempt parcels continues to increase every year shifting more of the tax burden to the remaining residents, and
-state and/or federal funding has not bridged this gap.
We do not blame the Seneca Nation of Indians and their right to tax exemptions, but instead feel that local, state, and federal government have not done enough to prevent the heavy burden tax payers are experiencing. We are seeking long-term solutions that help the SCCSD and its students receive the money they need without the unsustainable financial strain that is being placed on tax payers.
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to help us find long-term solutions to reduce our tax burden, including:
-helping the Salamanca City Central School District apply for and receive Federal Impact Aid to reduce taxes, and
-evaluate and pursue additional appropriate funding for the SCCSD that will reduce taxes.
