One of the proposed changes for the upcoming early fall archery season is to make that season antlerless only.
As a bowhunter in New Jersey, I am against the change in early fall archery season NOT allowing me to harvest a buck after I have harvested my required antlerless deer. I will no longer participate in the early archery season due to this change.
The main reason a bowhunter endures 90+ degree temperatures is for a chance to harvest a buck that is on his summer pattern or even a velvet buck after they harvest a doe. If you take that away bowhunters will do other activities until fall bow season opens then they will harvest a buck without ever shooting a doe.
We ask you to drop this change and leave earn a buck in place for the early season.

jamie mcquaid, United States1 year ago Comments: horrible idea. limit the number of bucks per year to 2 per any weapon, but early bow season is the best time to harvest a mature buck. have taken at least 4 m aturebucks in early season. why should honest hunters be punished because dishonest people are abusing the call in system, that is not appropriate way to punish dishonest people, they will be dishonest anyway, whether or not they have to call in a doe. honest hunters with integrity should not be punished. thanks.
