We the undersigned citizens of Middletown Borough are presenting this Petition to Borough Council asking for them to abolish the position of the Communications Director/Spokesperson within the Borough. There are several reasons for this request: there are no other townships, borough or cities within a close proximity that have this position, this position was abolished when our Communications Center was closed, there are talks of potential rate increases in Middletown’s utilities in order for Middletown to meet the operating costs, over half of the Boroughs work force has been laid off. This position is not needed as in other towns and cities this is either done by the Borough Manager, the Secretary or the town’s Mayor. This position is a $50,000 a year position with use of a Borough vehicle and cell phone. The abolishment of this position would help ease some of the financial strain that the Borough currently is trying to repair.

This Communications Director is also tasked with updating and keeping current the borough website, another example of his communication duties not being fulfilled. For example, contact information for past employees is still included on the website, email addresses for certain members are not assigned (to be clear only those who refuse to yield to McNamara), activities as old as 2 years are still listed as events or news. He should probably use less time creeping and screen shotting pics from my face book page and work on that lack luster web site.
