Wimbledon Common, Putney Heath and Lower Putney Common are three iconic green areas of calm and tranquillity in the midst of the urban sprawls of South West London.

There are over 1,100 acres – a majority of which have Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Area of Conservation (SAC) status. They are important areas of bio-diversity with populations of bats, badgers, shrews, voles, foxes and many other species.

Cared for by a Board of Conservators established by various Acts of Parliament with a majority of the Board being directly elected by local residents.

We believe that a public petition to the Board of Conservators will strengthen and assist them in their stated objective of protecting all animals on The Commons.

We, the undersigned, petition the Board of Conservators for the Wimbledon and Putney Commons to ban the culling of badgers on all land owned and managed by them.

We ask this because we believe culling to be inhumane, unscientific and of no relevance at all in eradicating bTB.

Signatories to this petition either work, live or study in the areas of the Commons or have visited these unique and beautiful parts of London.
