We, the undersigned residents of Riverdale, are opposed to the proposed Montefiore medical center on Riverdale Avenue. This enormous polyclinic will permanently change the character of our community. It will create unmanageable traffic congestion, noise, and disruption both on commercial and residential streets by bringing thousands of people and emergency vehicles into our neighborhood.

Riverdale is not a medically underserved community. It has more than 100 doctors and medical offices, not to mention urgent care centers in the Sky View shopping center and on Corlear Avenue, and it is only a mile away from Columbia Presbyterian Hospital’s Allen Pavilion. We do not need a redundant mega-clinic which will ruin our neighborhood.
