Name: Michael McGuigan on Jan 3, 2013Comments: There is absolutely no reason for ordinary citizens to own assault weapons or high capacity magazines. Zero!! None!! These are weapons of war, not sport. As a country, it is not acceptable to have these war weapons easily available. How many more massacres like Newtown have to happen before something is done to try and limit the carnage these weapons inflict on innocent people especially our beautiful, precious children????Flag

Name: Robert L. Brubaker on Jan 5, 2013Comments: I make sure to keep a memo about any legislator who takes campaign funds from the NRA and votes in favor of continued slaughter with unrestricted guns. I'll never vote for them. I hope that you will support the above legislation. I grew up on a farm in Southern Illinois and uncles had rifles for hunting. But it is totally reprehensible to accept NRA's specious arguments against any kind of reasonable restrictions.Flag

Name: Gail Talbot on Jan 7, 2013Comments: Be very careful of who you allow to rent time in your head Representative Hultgren. The NRA wants you to believe that an eye for an eye would not render us all blind. I believe that a compromise between the fear of being un-armed and a society that is over-armed is possible. Surely, we could require lost or stolen weapons be reported within 24 hours and, to accomplish this, a national registry of weapons instituted. If you distrust our government so much as to feel a national registry is invasive, you are in the wrong job. Further, as deficit trimming looms, surely you will not favor deeper cuts to mental health programs, such as you have allowed in Illinois by not voicing objection to our Springfield leadership. The antithesis of responsible gun laws and effective support for the mentally ill and hopelessly poor, is a continued slaughter of innocents. You, sir, are in a position to lead or fail, so be very careful of whom you allow to rent time in your head Representative Hultgren and tune in to the frequency of your constituents.Flag
