The Petition of certain citizens of Pymble Ladies’ College draws to the attention of the [ insert name of Federal/ State/ Local Government ]

Currently, the koala population is declining rapidly, despite the recent listing in Queensland and New South Wales as vulnerable under the EPCB Act. Koalas still remain unprotected in Victoria, because in some areas koala numbers remain steady. Minister Burke says he "can't provide a blanket threatened species listing across Australia when there are many places where koala numbers remain high." However, despite this, some areas have experienced a rapid decline in koala numbers - meaning that they are on the brink of extinction.

The Petitioners therefore request that the ‘National Koala Act’ be instated immediately as a legislation purely for koalas is the only way to fully protect the koala and stop the decline of koala numbers in the wild.
