Many different schools have experienced boycotting due to the new stricter laws about school lunches. For the first time, school lunches must have age-aligned calorie maximums, capping the amount of calories high school students eat to around 850 calories. The new restrictions all come from the updated Dietary Guidelines for Americans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and are funded by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 – legislation promoted by Michelle Obama. This website also quoted a student from Mukwonago High School, who is the class president, taking AP classes, and is 6 foot 3 inches, 210 pound linebacker. He says that the problem isn't necessarily the healthier food, bunt the portion sizes. Many high-school students are extremely active and limiting us to such small eloping sizes will make it harder for us to perform successfully in school and sports.
