We, the people of Bonavista, NL who own and operate ATV’s and other off-road vehicles, would like our Town Council to consider allowing the use of ATV’s on municipal roads, on a one-year trial basis. If this new bylaw is passed, it could improve the safety of ATV riders and vehicles, by reducing the speed of travel for fear of being fined, or having off-road vehicles confiscated by the RCMP. It would also make it easier for the residents to access many of our natural trails, and getting from Point A to Point B more safe. With proper safety equipment, responsibility and precautions, ATV owners would have access to use roads the same as motorcycles, cars, trucks etc. All riders would wear proper helmets, have their ATV’s insured & registered, follow the same rules of the roads and must be of legal age to operate an ATV.
