We, the under signed, think there should be an optional homework policy at Souhegan High School.

          Homework causes a lot of stress on high school students, it has a lot of negative effects on students, according to an article by Scientific Learning, “What about the students who are doing it (homework) wrong and then have to “unlearn” incorrect information?” The article went on to say “there is no proof that homework benefits students in other ways such as good study habits, independence or self discipline, Kohn could find no disadvantage to reducing homework….” Alfie Kohn is a published author and lectures about parenting and education.

Overall, we feel having homework be optional would benefit students more than having it be required and count as a grade.
