Name: Lisa Kumaradjaja on Jan 18, 2013Comments: I fully support the later start time. For my child, the benefits of a later start time FAR out weigh the cost of a few minutes per class. Right now the classes are often cut short during 2 hour delay days or other events by 15 minutes each, which does not seem to impact the quality or quantity of what is taught. On the other hand, seeing my child get up at 5:45AM every day, extremely tired, to catch the bus, and then get home well after 5:30pm, is clearly a negative to his well being and ability to learn effectively.Flag

Name: Gregg Levethan on Jan 18, 2013Comments: When this issue was first brought to a vote an overwhelming majority of parents voted in its favor and the administration announced that a late start would take effect starting September 2012. Afterwards a small minority voiced their opinion contrary to the proposal and the administration backtracked on their decision and reopened the subject to further debate. I attended the public hearings and listened as the results of the committees research were presented. It was obvious that both the administration and the committee were overwhelmingly in favor of going forward with a later start. A clear majority of the parents had already voted in favor of a later start. Despite these factors a loud and vocal MINORITY was able to convince the administration to once again relent and table the proposal. It is time to let the majority decide what they want to do with regards to this matter. There is still plenty of time to put this issue to a simple vote - yes or no - do you or do you not want a later start to the school day. The administration should publicly announce the results of the vote and go forward with whichever mandate the majority voted for. It really is quite simple - that is how a democracy works. Let's do it, do it quickly, and finally put this issue to rest.Flag

Name: Annette Solakoglu on Jan 18, 2013Comments: To see our son suffer from sleep deprivation is troubling us deeply every day. Every day. Every day. Please understand the urgency of this decision. Healthy rested bodies and minds must come first. P.S. I’m sure the opponents did not look at how much class time they were “buying” before enrolling at Masters.Flag
