We were informed yesterday that some serious things are about to happen in the Guns N’ Roses camp. The music press is whispering about secretive twitter posts, well-informed insiders and family members.
We, at Flaming Guitars Magazine (Lángoló Gitárok Blog, Hungary) with all our respect and love would like to express our disapproval towards a possible disappointing reunion. That is why we decided to launch an international petition with the aim to persuade Axl and the guys that there is no point in it. In the followings we enlist a lot of reasons to persuade you, too.
Of course, it would be beneath our dignity to come up with such clichés as „they are doing it for the money”.
Our reasons are built on a firm basis, and are the followings:
1. We are unwilling to believe that people can make peace with each other after so many years.
2. There is no point in risking Steven Adler and Matt Sorum starting a fight for the drum seat.
3. As it is well known, Izzy Stradlin is leading his solitary life in his anchorage in the Appalachian Mountains. There is no chance for finding him.
4. If Slash gave up his succesful solo career, Myles Kennedy would have to sing on a lot of mediocre Alter Bridge records. No one wants this to happen.
5. The two books by Duff are really great. There is no point in giving such a promising career as a writer up for some nostalgia.
6. A two and a half-month-long tour with 50 gigs means ca. 160 hours of late. No one has so much time to waste.
7. After the reunion of the original Guns N’ Roses, Led Zeppelin would also have to reunite because of the pressure of their fans. And consequently, the fans would have to be disappointed by the unprincipledness of Robert Plant.
8. After the reunion of Led Zeppelin, the determined booking agencies would spend billions on cloning Elvis Presley and the late members of the Beatles, since this was their only opportunity to exceed this sensation.
9. The generation in its thirties could not humiliate the newbie rockers by saying that they saw the original line-up live when they were ten.
10. All the idiots wants to see the tour, so all the FOS tickets would be bought by these assholes, who only want to show off to their friends how cool it was to see the original Guns. The real fans would be disappointed.
11. After the tour each and every wacky celebrities would start wearing Guns T-shirts after wearing Ramones or Iron Maiden shirts. As the tendendies in trends show, a bunch of trend addicts would start wearing Guns N’ Roses T-shirts without listening to a single song from the band. This would generate a great disapproval among the real fans of the band.
12. The reunion would not help the case of today’s rock music that is retrospective anyway. Everyone is longing for the old times and the greatest stars. The bands tour with their old records, and they write new songs only to avoid being blamed for being a human jukebox that plays their decades old hits, because the audience wants them to do so. This way it is impossible for rock music to renew.
So we suggest the booking agencies who offered millions of dollars for Axl and his pals to reunite, to offer this money for charity, that does not lead the music lovers to the swamp of nostalgia, but it helps the world to develop: the musical tuition of the youngsters of some Middle-European countries, or the transplantations of old punk musicians with liver problems. Or a new, and by all means necessary military movement somewhere in the East.
13. The band itself should refuse the dollar millions, because obviously there is no point for them in spending it again on such useless things as another limo, hookers, or heroin. They should offer this money for charity that helps the world to develop: the musical tuition of the youngsters of some Middle-European countries, or the transplantations of old punk musicians with liver problems. Or yet another, and by all means necessary military movement somewhere in the East.
14. If during the tour they happen to get in the mood to write a new record, because of Axl’s perfectionism it would not be finished in the next 20 years for sure. The music press would have to publish at least one vague, speculative article about the new record each and every week for the following 20 years. This would definitely make at least half of the well-mannered rock fans slit their wrists. There is no point in risking this.
15. Even if this new record would be completed (in 2046 the earliest), it would cause fatal debates in pensionary homes whether it can be measured to their legendary early records, or it is only the nostalgy of some old rocker farts.
16. Although some smartasses tend to think that it is rock music (most probably because the leather pants in the video clips), Sweet Child O’Mine is at least as bad as I can’t Dance. What’s more, it is even cheesy. Phil Collins does not deserve to be the only one who is bugged because of his return.
17. Guns N’ Roses was real only with DJ Ashba and Bumblefoot.
18. They do it only for the money.
We hope, we could persuade you all. Join our movement! Sign the petition!
ez a reunion csak penzéhes hülyeség. inkább ne.
