PLEASE READ, EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO PARENTS AND STUDENTS: Are you aware that Red Clay changed the grading policy? These changes are going to impact your child's grades. They are now on a 10 point grading system which means and A is 90 to 100 and a B is 80 to 90, etc. you may say I like this, this new grading system will make my student have better grades!! What you may not be aware is your child's grades consists of two things; summative and formative grades. The summative grade is worth 70% which is tests, essays, and projects; the formative grade is homework, classwork, quizzes, summer reading etc. worth 30%. Teachers only have to have a minimum of 3 summative grades and 7 formative grades per marking period per student. If your child is not a good test taker or does not understand a particular section of math and bombs the tests, your child's grade is going to drop and the formative grade cannot bring your child's grade up. This is a major problem. Please look at your child's grades. Teachers in the past were able to separate grades into different sections that were best for their particular subject, that is not happening any more. This new policy was not brought before the board and parents did not know about this. Please share this to make parents aware of what is going on.
