This petition is to ask television network CMT to re-format their show PICK A PUPPY to feature pets from animal shelters and rescue organizations rather than from breeders. CMT could play a huge and positive role in bringing awareness to the crisis that exists for homeless animals today. Millions of healthy, adoptable animals are destroyed every year in shelters in America due to overpopulation and overcrowding. We wish to spread the message of "Don't shop, adopt" far and wide. This would be a tremendous opportunity to help these animals, who through no fault of their own, have ended up abandoned, dumped, lonely, and who deserve to find a loving family and a home of their own, and not simply be killed because they are homeless. Our shelter pets are NOT disposable!! We feel that the majority of people searching for a family pet or companion don't require a "show quality", purebred, papered dog. The advantages to adopting a shelter dog far outweight these trivial points. There are thousands upon thousands of puppies, adult and elder-dogs (and cats too) that need someone to step up and help them. Please sign this petition if you would like to see a TV show focus on rescue and shelter pets, and helping them find families. Thank you!
