Name: Stefano Restaino on Aug 22, 2011Comments: Surely this plan makes a mockery of our environmental city status? We would also be losing some of the only natural beauty within the town centre amongst the many bland concrete buildings and pavementsFlag

Name: Mrs Geraldine Harrison on Aug 22, 2011Comments: Why chop down trees? What possible good reasons could there be for cutting down any trees, especially the trees in Bridge Street. They make the area so very pleasant to shop in. Any loss of any tree in that area would be greatly missed.Flag

Name: John Hird on Aug 22, 2011Comments: I think the Bridge Street area needs its trees and it would be detrimental to remove any of themFlag

Name: Anonymous on Aug 23, 2011Comments: I own a flat in Priestgate and really appreciate seeing the greenery of the trees, when I walk out onto Bridge Street. The City Centre is very built up with little greenery as it is, that cutting ANY trees down would have a detrimental impact on an already negative visual balance.Flag

Name: Janette Rickman on Aug 23, 2011Comments: The trees make Bridge St unique, with places to sit in the shade and distract from the concrete around them. If a third are removed, the street would look like any other shopping street. Make a feature of them rather than treat them as a nuisance. Be proud of them.Flag

Name: Richard Olsen on Aug 26, 2011Comments: I can't see why the council would want to remove the trees as they would need to replace them with something and money can be better spent elsewhere and the removing of trees is not in line with the Green Capital status it wishes to achieve.Flag

Name: Christine Abbs on Aug 29, 2011Comments: Peterborough is supposed to be a green city - doesn't seem like it from their attitude with trees. If they want to save on maintenance costs for trees stop the bi-annual pollarding of a large number of street trees in the city. There are hundreds of them being "massacred" every two years and only a few in the city centre (which are not pollarded). This has nothing to do with saving costs!Flag

Name: Terence Cowling on Aug 29, 2011Comments: Don't take the trees down and ruin the street, the council have already made a mess of the Cathedral square with the waste of time water spouts. Spend some money on getting rid of the pigeons and prune the trees instead.Flag

Comments: Prning or pollrding the trees may cost money but chopping a third down is mindless. We need to keep these green lungs in the centre and plant more in other concrete areas. The council could actually prove it genuinely has green credentials, rather than environmental vandalism and alleged economies.Flag -
