Name: David Martin on Dec 6, 2006Comments: Theres always going to be various little problems putting up Christmas lights but it can be done very easily with a bit of organisation which the council don`t seem to have. There are lots of rumours aswell-like one of the householders fefused permission to have a new bracket. We should find out exactly whats going on and why. Good Luck!Flag

Name: Steven Cooper Blacksmith on Dec 14, 2006Comments: I am forty in a few days time and for at least the past 30 years the lights have been across our streets in pershore. I have seen the manger moved to the useless place it is now where no one can see it and the lights are the final straw lets all be honest the lights that are replacement are CRAP harsh I know but they are our town always looked magical and welcoming now it looks dreary and melancoly yet another outsider trying to make there mark and not doing what they said they would when representing the people of our town The planning issue could be resolved if someone was prepared to broach the subject what right has some person in an office at the stroke of a pen decide for the rest of us come on people of pershore stand and be counted tell the people who are suposed to be representing us what we want and that is the lights put back and get rid of the crap that is there nowFlag

Name: Joy Dobbins on Dec 14, 2006Comments: I was very disappointed to see the paltry lights in Pershore. especially as they seem to be on different timers and are not very festive. The Town Hall seems to have had all the money spent this year on decorations/lights.Flag

Name: Tracy Morris on Dec 14, 2006Comments: As a family, i have to say that this year the lights are very disappointing indeed. I would go so far as to say that they look like bargain basement, second-hand used lights. Not only do they not all work, but there is no colour variation. They are sparsly distributed, whereas, in previous years with the lights going across the street they have been very visible and well layed out. Usually when entering the town from either direction you are greeted by a warm and welcoming sight. This year you can pass right through the town centre and not even notice that the lights are on at all. This year i wish i worked in the town council office as that is the only place that you can see any decent lights from. The nativty is also at the back of the offices and surely the idea is to promote community spirit. So i think therefore to conclude next year the nativity should be returned to broad street and the lights strung across the street as in previous years. Surely with twelve months planning time the problem with light fixings can be resolved.Flag

Why cannot we know the specific details of the reasons theold lights were not used, and if planning problems, specifically what is needed, if it is money, specifically how much is requiredFlag

Truly magical. What a shame the council has decided to take away that magic due to costs.I should have thought it would have been better if the council could have asked the people what they wanted as we pay the rates ,so should have some say as to any changes that are made. But as a council who has today refused a pensioner (who only hasFlag

Name: Paul Brixey on Dec 14, 2006Comments: I am appalled at the lack of fight that the council put up to save our lights. As people know it's always difficult to undo something which has been changed but I pray that our councillors decide to fight and not take the easy option. I also note that the carnival flags were not put up in the Spring. If they use the same fixings then surely the Council were aware of the issue in plenty of time to do something.Flag

Perhaps the council can work to get the lights to pass H&S and the fittings in Bridge St up to the correct standard so that in 12 months time we have a beautiful display of lights back.Flag

Name: Alan on Dec 15, 2006Comments: I do tend to agree that the lights down bridge street are poor and need to be replaced with our traditional string lights when planning permission has been granted and money found to replace old connections. The lights down Broad street are great, the trees look good . I am hoping money can be found to extend the lights onto all the trees next year. I do hope the old lights return, but Broad street looks great. Alan GFlag

Name: Anonymous on Dec 15, 2006Comments: The old colourful lights were lovely to look at and very Christmassey with a warm feel to them. These new lights are disgraceful, unattractive and very cold looking. I do hope the council take notice of what the people of Pershore would like to see as they pay enough council tax! I see the town hall as many lights on! Bring back the colourful lights we had!!! I think the feeling of anyone I have spoke to.Flag

Name: Janice Coss on Dec 15, 2006Comments: Sorry, but Pershore lights are pathetic, very cold looking, just blank. All our friends and visitors to Pershore will be very disappointed when they visit this Years show. As a Council Tax payer I think we should be consulted when a decision is made on anything that affects us in Pershore and help to pay for. As for moving the Manger, disgusting. What a place to put it where both gates are locked most of the time, so most of us never see it. Oh, by the way the Town Hall appears to have quite a good display! As for the small mention in the paper that due to Health and Safety that the old lights are dangerous and not being able to put from side to side as normal, rubbish. Where have the old lights ended upFlag

Name: Rebecca Honeybourne on Dec 15, 2006Comments: I was born and raised around the Pershore area, and have for the passed 24 years have looked forward to seeing the lights in the high street, it was so magical and made it feel very christmasy. I would drive through just to see the lights. As I was driving through this year I coulden't belive my I eyes and thought that the normal lights would be put up at a later date, but no. Pershore was always the best around at christmas, but now it seems it can't be bothered.Flag
