5 AnonymousA world economy based on barbarism for most of its population is not an economy fit for the twenty-first century. 60 years after the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we are still in age deeply scarred by the legacies of colonialism and imperialism and where neoliberal demands for so-called 'free trade' in reality ensure the poor remain inpoverished. The solution to this is to fundamentally change the way in which world trade, production and finance is regulated, so that states do not continually compete with each other in providing cheap labour and tax holidays - often to multinationals in search of quick profits.

31 Nor FloridaHi, I signed this petition because I really agree with what People Tree is doing for the development of Fair Trade and because I want that Fair Trade becomes the only mean to do business between rich and poor countries. Hoping that Fair Trade will be soaring faster, not because it is fashionable but it is just what we need right now.
