Vans with wheelchair lifts and ramps cannot park in regular handicap spaces because they cannot let their lifts and ramps out. Handicapped vans with lifts and ramps need about 8ft of clearance to let a lift or ramp out and for the person in the wheelchair to be able to exit the van safely and that's what van accessible spaces were designed for.Flag
