Peer COR is a law enforcement based youth court program. It provides an alternative resolution for juvenile offenses, outside of the traditional court system. The purpose of Peer COR is to provide an innovative, efficient, and restorative process to successfully resolve juvenile offenses. It offers a way for student offenders to sidestep the juvenile justice system, which metes out fines, probation and a youth record. Peer C.O.R. instead addresses the problems that caused the behavior and try to help them restore the harm that has been done. Peer COR has been funded by the City of Woodbury although the program ran throughout the southern part of the county. So now Peer COR has lost it’s funding. This petitions purpose is to inform people about the program and to encourage Washington County to adopt this program throughout the county.
