    Comments: I had several laminectomies starting in 1973-76 for total of 6 in that time but never bothered me. Always was a physical outdoors person. Never no Sinus problems, infections that didnt clear, not even the flu before they put Pedicle Screws and Plates in my back in 1989 (I was not told they were not legal for that procedure). I was in the hospital 13 days after that surgery with double pneumonia. Also I keep a sore throat and skin infections that I never had, I can not walk unaided since t hey put the plates and screws in my back where they were to stay 1 yr. but only stayed a bit over 8 mos. .They could not put anymore metal in my back but never told me why they couldnot. Nor was I aware that I had a broken screw left in my back untill I had my Family physicial have some X-Rays m ade for me of my back and I saw the screw in my back.. The plates in my back were 8 in X 2in. , of which there were 2 (one on the left side of my bone harvested from a cadaver from L2-L3 to S1-S2.) with 8 screws and I know fractured vertebrae above L2. and maybe more. I am having to take opiates for the rest of my life because there is nothing they said from all the doctors that I went to that can be done. The infections, the pain, and all the troubles that I have are things I never had before, the drugs (opiates)not being able to do the things that I did before, depression......The medicines we chronic pain patients must take are over a thousand dollars a month that most don't have...Doctors don't want to see us if they weren't the ones to operate on our backs. It is a never ending , nerve wracking worry if we have to move to another town or anywhere away from our places where we got our meds. and have to fin d someone else........I just would like to know what we have to look forward to in this life, the ones that have any semblance of a life left after that fiasco of the bone plates and screws that stinks to high heaven the way it ended up in court where the people are left our in the cold because we can not sue the makers of the plates and screws even though they were/are illegal except now they have certain cases but I don't even fit the qualifications even now but still Sofamar-Danek and all the rest of the m akers are still using them in unsuspecting, unaware that they are not legal but they still get away with it and they are doing more and more and leaving the disabled to fend for themselves!!!
