Name: Max Levenstein on Feb 3, 2007Comments: The state does not truly know of these activities. They give very little funding if anything, and even at that, they wish to end it. If you look at band and choir, you will rarely ever see an "obese" person. Then go to a Physical Education class...Flag

Name: Anonymous on Feb 8, 2007Comments: About those issues about obesity and diabetes - I'm sure people are well aware of those and I find that being in show choir has helped my medical conditions. You just cannot be in show choir anyway without being fit - you wouldn't be able to handle singing and dancing at the same time. It's hell hard work, so why shouldn't it be credited for PE in addition to visual/performing artsFlag

Name: David Radtke on Jan 31, 2010Comments: I agree with this petition. I have no special interest in the outcome, but I live right next to a high school and the students in the activities other than the actual PE courses seem to get much more physical activity than many in the PE classes. Swimming is about the only activity they should need to take in PE. And many students are already proficient in swimming so they and all students could be given a chance to test out of the swimming requirements if they want.Flag
