Dear Promoters/ 10C/ Pearl Jam- Shalom from Israel

We at the Pearl Jam community in Israel would like to thank you for the terrific shows some of us attended over the years and during the 2009 tour. Many have traveled near and far to see your shows, North America, Italy, others got their first ever Pearl Jam show in Athens, and few practically toured all through Europe and Australia alongside the band. As any group of fans in the world, our love towards the band, the music and the issues the band stands for is endless, and ever growing. The amount of Israelis flying to shows in Europe this past September was unprecedented, and each and every one of us felt proud to see our country being represented in front of the stage by such a large and warm crowd from back home. Support from multinational Pearl Jam fans has filled our hearts with joy at these times of misrepresentations. It made flying all over the world \'just for one band\' the very thing to do. At the upcoming June European tour, we feel obligated to let our voice be heard, and we call upon you – a band which so strongly represents a very certain political view – to use your music the way music should be used, as a vehicle promoting an exalted cause, raising awareness towards peace, worldwide injustice and understanding. The Middle East has always suffered turmoil, and performing artists have addressed this issue and used their art and music to elevate an idea, a political view, and in doing so – but for a short moment – brought a fragment of comfort to this part of the world. Just recently, Roger Waters Performed in front of 50,000 people at \"Neve-Shalom\" (which translates as \"Peace\'s Habitation\"), a village where Jews and Arabs co-exist and live together side by side. He chose to perform there because he felt he was carrying a message of understanding with him, and he made it a mission of his to get this message through. Moreover, this July Israel is expected to take part in the \"Just a Minute of Peace\" campaign (http://www.jamop.com), and will be hosting many world renowned artists and bands. We invite Jeff, Mike and Stone to revisit the land after 12 years of absence and bring Matt and Eddie along for a first. We, the community of Pearl Jam fans in Israel and supporters, believe it is high time you paid a visit to the Middle East. We (as a community) all agree that a concert in any peace promoting country in the Middle East (be it Israel, Egypt or Jordan) would do justice to the fans in our area, and to you as a band and the views you stand for. Whoever may read this – thank you for taking your time. We deeply appreciate it. Here\'s for no more lives wasted, music & peace. Wishing to rock with you in the free world. Your fans in Israel.
