The petition

Dear Senator Inouye,

As a member of the Subcommittee for State and Foreign Operations, I ask you to lead Senate efforts to champion a renewed and reinvigorated Peace Corps. Please support $450 Million for the Peace Corps for Fiscal Year 2010, as recently recommended by the House Appropriations Committee.

This is the moment to show your commitment to the Peace Corps as a vital element of U.S. outreach to the world. By doing so, you will be supporting the growing number of applicants who are inspired to answer a national call to service. You will be responding to the needs of many nations that for far too long have seen requests for volunteers go unfulfilled because of a lack of resources. You will build and bolster the network of citizen-to-citizen relationships that President Obama, Defense Secretary Gates and countless others acknowledge are a critical component in our nation's outreach to the world.

Senator, please don't miss this moment. Please support a Fiscal Year 2010 $450 Million appropriation for the Peace Corps, and take all action necessary to advance this recommendation through the Senate.

Thank you for considering this message. I would be honored with a reply.
